OUR BODIES WERE DESIGNED TO BE HEALTHY, slender and energetic. We were intended to have smooth, supple skin and a quick, alert mind.

Our bodies are meant to be in balance, a balance of alkalinity and acidic. The over-acidification of the body is the single underlying cause of all disease.

In contrast, the old biology, based on the work of Louis Pasteur in the late 1800s, stems from the idea that disease comes from germs which invade the body from the outside. Dr. Young has found that when the body is in healthy alkaline balance, germs are unable to get a foothold.

Think of your body as a fish tank. Think of the importance of maintaining the integrity of the internal fluids of the body that we “swim” in daily.

Of course, everybody is different – but most of us should aim to eat 75-80% alkaline foods and a maximum of 20-25% acid forming foods.

Our bodies are meant to be in balance, alkaline.

The pH level (the acid-alkaline measurement) of our internal fluids affects every cell in our bodies. Extended acid imbalances of any kind are not well tolerated by the body. Indeed, the entire metabolic process depends on a balanced internal alkaline environment. A chronically over-acidic pH corrodes body tissue, slowly eating into the veins and arteries like acid eating into marble. If left unchecked, over-acidification interferes with life itself leading to all sickness and disease!

Are you acidic? Here may be some clues that you are:

Fatigue Underweight Fat is an Acid Problem! Allergies

I’m doing a 3 day greens cleanse right now and its fabulous. We do this one once a month, your choice to do a little, a lot, all is good, and we’ll do a 7 day in January to start the year off right.

My hope is give everyone some info to improve their everyday health. I have a great chart on alkaline and acidic foods, let me know if you would like it.

To Your Health!

That was one of the questions Dr. O’Bryan used when talking about gluten sensitivity and health in general.

Many of us take better care of our cars than ourselves.

Many of us do not know that simple tests can help us understand and resolve or improve health issues we are having.

For instance a blood test can tell you your vitamin D level….I’ve sent many people recently and most fell into the 20 to 30 range…it should be 55 to 65.

I promote nutrition and eating well, but just eating good foods keeps you alive, it doesn’t necessarily rebuild damage. Many times you need supplements until you reach the better health level required.

Gluten is a hot topic now and many are discovering that 7 out of 10 people have some sensitivity to gluten; wheat, barley and rye. It’s in personal care products too.

This sensitivity can affect and show up as headaches, inflammation, gas, illness, auto-immune disease, memory and more..kids have these sensitivities too and some times the sensitivity is inherited.

Feeding things like cereal to our children can affect their achievement and increase disruptive behavior.

We all have weak links in our body and those will show up when attacked by what you are feeding your body, thinking and environmental issues.

He also talked about many people being low in amino acids; B6 & B12. Now I understand why many people are feeling happier from our power pops.

There is a lot of evidence to support nutrients in helping lower or get rid of symptoms. TV wants us to believe a pill can help. A pill masks, nutrients work to repair.

Auto-immune diseases are now #3 in death behind heart disease and cancer, both of which can also be headed off by nutrition.

To Your Health!

Connection to sugar and your immune system.

Eating sugar paralyzes your body to fight for five hours after eating it.

20 oz coke – 17 teaspoons of sugar…muffins – 12 teaspoons of sugar

Happy hour is loaded with sugar. Anymore than two drinks at one time leads to immune and auto immune deficiency according to the American Cancer Institute.

Replace refined foods. Start your day with eggs with spinach as an e.g. Cooking them in coconut oil (which stabilizes and protects cells) is perfect.

Trans fat damage cell membranes and leads to cancer. By damaging your chemistry it’s damaging your immune system.

Eat things like avocados, olive oil, real butter, nuts and seeds to strengthen your immune system, especially during the flu season.

and eat real protein, salmon, wild rice, almonds, nitrate free deli meat

I’m a big believer in organic greens, especially due to all the results I’ve seen in myself and others. I have some amazing alkalizing recipes too.

some of this information is from Nutrition Weight and Wellness who are also an excellent place for articles and recipes.

Most people do not appreciate the value of sunshine. It helps our mood and so much more with our health.

My colleague, AJ Remsing at a recent conference shared that the center for disease and control completed a study on swine flu showing a connection to deficiencies in Vitamin D.

Of course the sun is a great source but it’s hard to get enough, especially in the northern climates and/or if you are inside most of the day and you have to expose a large amount of skin without sun screen to get the effects. Very few foods provide it.

The same vitamin D deficiency that can result in weak bones now has been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, Framingham Heart Study researchers report in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association.

“Vitamin D deficiency is associated with increased cardiovascular risk, above and beyond established cardiovascular risk factors,” said Thomas J. Wang, M.D., assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass. “The higher risk associated with vitamin D deficiency was particularly evident among individuals with high blood pressure.”

Experts suspect that insufficient levels of vitamin D raise your risk of getting these diseases; osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, high blood pressure, diabetes and cancer.

Unfortunately, most of us probably are vitamin D deficient. recommended is 200 IU a day for young adults, 400 for people 51 to 70, and 600 for those over 70, but many think that’s not enough.

Women with low blood levels of vitamin D were more likely to have high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to several types of cancer, including breast, prostate, colon and melanoma.

I have further detail on the reports I mentioned. If you would like them please let me know.

You can also get too much vitamin D so a good option is find out your levels…I can give you more detail on that too, just ask.

Vitamin D3 seems to be best. If you’re not getting at least 20 minutes of sun a day on 75% of your body, take your D!

Many people don’t realize that many diseases are a result of inflammation. One of the biggest causes of inflammation is sugar. People eat about 154 lbs of it a year in the US.

Asthma and sinus issues are inflammation, acne is a result of it, just to name a few. One thing Asthma needs is good fat, salmon, sardines, mackerel and omega supplements to be balanced.

A blizzard has 40 teaspoons of sugar in one! Pizza has 12 tsp’s of sugar.

Lessening your sugar can give you more energy, less acne and overall better health.

Teaching your children good eating habits, getting them involved, will help break the cycle and help them live longer. This is the first generation that may not out live their parents if they keep eating fast food and drinking soda.

To your health!

One of my desires is to enlighten everyone about soda and how just changing this one thing can affect you in so many positive ways.

10 Diseases Linked To Soda

Statistics shows that Americans drink more soda than ever before. They account for more than 25 percent of all drinks consumed in the United States. More than 15 billion gallons were sold in 2000 — about one 12-ounce can per day for every man, woman and child.

But here’s some information that may keep you away from opening the can:

1. Extra pounds

Soda is a significant contributor to obesity. Drinking a single can a day of sugary drinks translates to more than a pound of weight gain every month. And diet soda is just as likely to cause weight gain as regular, or even more — it may sound counterintuitive, but people who drink diet soft drinks actually don’t lose weight. Artificial sweeteners induce a whole set of physiologic and hormonal responses that actually make you gain weight.

2. Liver damage

Soda damages your liver. Consumption of too many soft drinks puts you under increased risk for liver cirrhosis similar to the increased risk faced by chronic alcoholics.

3. Tooth decay

Soda dissolves tooth enamel. Soft drinks are responsible for doubling or tripling the incidence of tooth decay. Soda’s acidity is even worse for teeth than the solid sugar found in candy.

4. Kidney stones and chronic kidney disease

Colas of all kinds are well known for their high phosphoric acid content, a substance that changes the urine in a way that promotes kidney stone formation. Drinking one quart (less than three 12-ounce cans) of soda per week may increase your risk of developing kidney stones by 15 percent.

5. Diabetes

Anything that promotes weight gain increases the risk of diabetes. Drinking soda also stresses your body’s ability to process sugar. Some scientists now suspect that this may explain why the number of Americans with type 2 diabetes has tripled from 6.6 million in 1980 to 20.8 million today.

6. Heartburn & acid reflux

Heavy consumption of soda is a strong predictor of heartburn. Many carbonated beverages are very acidic. They also deliver a lot of air in the form of carbon dioxide, which can cause distension of your stomach. And that distension appears to be associated with more reflux.

7. Soft drinks = Soft Bones = Osteoporosis

Soft drinks containing phosphoric acid are definitely linked to osteoporosis (a weakening of your skeletal structure) because they lead to lower calcium levels and higher phosphate levels in your blood. When phosphate levels are high and calcium levels are low, calcium is pulled out of your bones.

8. Hypertension (high blood pressure)

Experts have reasons to believe that overconsumption of soda leads to an increase in blood pressure. It doesn’t matter if the soda is regular or diet.

9. Heart disease

Heavy soda drinkers are more likely to develop risk factors for heart disease. Research shows that drinking more than one soft drink a day is associated with an increased risk of developing metabolic syndrome — a group of symptoms such as central obesity, elevated blood pressure, elevated fasting blood sugar, elevated fasting triglycerides, and low levels of HDL or “good” cholesterol. Having three or more of the symptoms increases your risk of developing diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

10. Impaired digestion (gastrointestinal distress)

Gastrointestinal distress includes increased stomach acid levels requiring acid inhibitors, and moderate to severe gastric inflammation with possible stomach lining erosion. Drinking sodas, especially on an empty stomach, can upset the fragile acid-alkaline balance of your stomach and other gastric lining, creating a continuous acid environment. This prolonged acid environment can lead to inflammation of your stomach and duodenal lining.
